I can hardly believe that my little princess is 2 already!! It seems like yesterday that we brought you home from the hospital on that very hot June morning, embarking on the awesome adventure of parenting. How time flies!

On Saturday we celebrated your birthday with family (including your Uncle Chris & Aunt Rachel who drove in from Arlington) and some very special friends (also including Hollie, Caitlin & Christie who drove in from Monahans). You had a cupcake party and I made you 2 giant cupcakes for your cake. You opened many fun and noisy toys that you are having a blast playing with, we cooked out hamburgers and everyone went swimming. On Sunday, your Grandma Nicholas and Aunt Kari stopped by for a short visit and Uncle Chris and Aunt Rachel had to leave. You finally got to get out in the yard and ride your motorcycle that Uncle Ricky gave you for Christmas. It only took you a few mins and you had that thing mastered, now if you would only learn to stear. Later on in the afternoon your Papa got out in the yard and tried to teach you how to ride your new Big Wheels you got from Mommy & Daddy. Then Grammie and Papa watched you for a few hours while mommy and daddy had a date to the movies. You were still awake when we got home so you joined daddy in playing Guitar Hero!! On Monday we had to take Grandmother to the dr because of her fall Saturday before the party, then we spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing and cleaning up from the weekend. After Daddy got home from work we had saved 2 presents for you to open on your actual birthday, so we let you open those then had spaghetti and cookie pops for dinner. You were so excited about your new Barney movies that you watched one before bedtime.

Isabella, this past year has been so delightful, getting to know who you are more and more! Although at times you make things very trying, at the end of the day I thank God you have become the sweetest little girl I could imagine having! You give the biggest hugs, flash the biggest smiles, and yes, throw the loudest, most spectacularly embarrassing tantrums.
You have such affection for those that you love- constant kisses and hugs for Mommy, Daddy and Mady, your Great-Grandmother, Grammie, Papa or just about any adult or child that you spend much time around! You also give lots of loving to all of your babies!
You've also surprised me with your wonderful, imaginative play at such a young age. You may not have all the words yet to tell us about it, but you certainly are creating some delicious meals, ferocious animals, excellent parenting skills and loving your "babies" so well.
Speaking of words, here are a few that you say these days:
- I la-you (I love you!)
- peas & kack you (please & thank you)
- gapes (grapes, tomatoes, cherries or anything small, plump and round)
- num-num (yum-yum & just your word for wanting a bite of whatever we have)
- it tased good (it tastes good or it smells good)
- diaper or diaper peas (means you want your diaper changed)
- need help? (you always ask if we need help, especially elderly people)
- k? (whether someone coughs, falls says ouch or whatever it may be you always check to make sure they are ok)
- Oh No & Aw Man (just a few of your favorite phrases to say when you get in trouble or something doesn’t work)
- Ion’t want it & All done (used quite often at the dinner table)
- outside (either in or out, depending on the context)
- opn da door (open the door)
- Ganmuter (Grandmother, this is your great grandmother, whom you love to go next door and see)
- Gammie (Grammie)/Papa (My Parent’s)
- awkr (Oscar, the goat, you love to take him apples)
- nack (snack – this is ANYTHING anytime you actually get hungry)
- nana (banana)
- potty (this means you would like to sit on the potty, for precisely 3.7 seconds, without doing anything in it, and then get up immediately wanting paper to throw in the potty)
- glup glup glup (plus hand motions) – (this is the sound you say a fish makes)
- owie or “it hurts”(this means you need a kiss to make it all better)
I'm know I could come up with more, but this helps to capture just a bit of how adorable you are these days! Life with you is so much fun…you teach me something new every day. My life is better because you are in it. I love you, my sweet baby. Happy birthday!
You're an explorer and a climber, who loves being outside (and will often put on your shoes and try to drag me outside with you), and you don't seem to have much fear. You love to go swimmin’ in our new pool. You already kick and try to move your arms and you are very good alone with just your arm floaties. You move all around the pool, splishing and splashing! Yet you're still so sensitive, creative, intuitive, thoughtful, purposeful... we so look forward to seeing these gifts that God has given you as they grow and develop.
Isabella, we pray that as you enter your 3rd year of life, that God will continue to reveal Himself to you and make His gospel known to you, and that it may take root in your heart of hearts. May you come to love Him more and more.
With all my love,
Mommy
